Arsenal and Real Madrid are among those reportedly interested, but it is expected only a world-record fee would secure the forward. John McCain and his advisers say they aren’t counting Hillary Clinton out when it comes to who will win the Democratic presidential nomination, but you sure couldn’t tell that from the Arizona senator’s victory speech tonight after his win in the Wisconsin GOP primary. For the second week in a row, McCain took direct aim at Barack Obama, who leads the delegate fight for the Democratic nod. “I will fight every moment of every day in this campaign to make sure Americans are not deceived by an eloquent but empty call for change that promises no more than a holiday from history and a return to the false promises and failed policies of a tired philosophy that trusts in government more than people,” McCain said to a packed ballroom in Columbus, Ohio, where voters will head to the polls on Mar....

Will McCain get the benefit of the doubt since he’s now locked up the nomination? Doesn’t look like it. According to Brody, the Family Research Council issued a statement noting that McCain has merely “tepidly endorsed” the party platform when it comes to the “protection of life and the preservation of marriage.” McCain’s federalist position “leads one to believe that his endorsement is not definitive,” the group says. For McCain, it’s a tricky dance....

With Mitt Romney out of the race, the focus now turns to John McCain, who is set to give a much anticipated speech before the Conservative Political Action Conference here in Washington at 3 PM. A senior McCain aide tells Newsweek that McCain’s remarks will not deviate much from his planned speech on how he and conservatives agree more than they disagree. The aide says McCain will likely “ad lib” a few lines about Romney, but won’t dramatically retool his remarks in relation to the events today....

The result was good enough for Pittsburgh. McCann scored twice, including the go-ahead goal on a spinning short-handed play in the third period, and the Penguins beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Saturday night.
