MediEvil’s Puzzles

In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, there were many big-name hack-and-slack titles that cut the violence with puzzle solving. God of War and Devil May Cry were two names that did this really well. MediEvil was another of these games, and the puzzles added a lot of fun and interest to the experience. To solve some of the puzzles in this game, players will have to destroy obstacles with their hack-and-slashing skills.

Although some things in the remake are new, the PS4 MediEvil stays true to these hack-and-slash, puzzle-based roots.

Destroying Boulders and Obstacles

If players forget how to smash obstacles in this section of the game, it can really add time to how long it takes to beat MediEvil. In level 2, players will be given access to the Club. This weapon is one of the only weapons that can break down the boulders and spikes that get in Sir Daniel Fortesque’s way. Unfortunately, breaking barriers also deals damage to the club itself.

Later on, players will also gain access to the hammer, which can smash any obstruction without having to worry about wear-and-tear on it. But until players unlock the hammer, they’ll want to be careful about how much they use their clubs.

To get rid of almost anything in the way, press and hold Circle. This will charge up the weapon and get the energy needed to break down any false wall, rock, or spike that might be standing in the way of progress. After that, the way should be clear to move on to find the next puzzle or horde of the undead. This should help players enjoy their old-school MediEvil experience in 4k better.

MediEvil is now available as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
