The three-week campaign was aimed to select both an American and European golfer to appear with Woods, with Rickie Fowler defeating Bubba Watson by a final margin of 52% to 48% to win the American side of the bracket. Rory McIlroy defeated Luke Donald by a final margin of 54% to 46% to win the European side.
EA Sports Marketing Director Craig Evans was very pleased with the voting turnout and the passion of the fans.
The cover art for the game with McIlroy and Fowler will be released in their respective regions sometime this November.
Featuring all-new experiences around Tiger Woods’ memorable golf accomplishments throughout his career, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 will take players back to the hallowed grounds of Augusta National, home of the prestigious Masters tournament. The game will also be the first controller-free, voice-enabled and body tracking sports simulation game to support the Kinect motion control system for the Xbox 360.
McIlroy, who appeared on the cover with Tiger Woods in the 2011 version, was honored with the selection.
Rickie Fowler, who grew up playing the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR games, thanked his fans and said he was excited to be on the cover with Tiger.
Indiscretions aside, Tiger Woods is still one of the most recognizable figures in the world, even to the non-golfing community. Appearing on the cover of a Tiger Woods PGA TOUR game is that much more cache for two young and up-and-coming golfers. Considering it’s his second appearance, McIlroy has probably already arrived. His results on the greens indicate as much.
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 13 will be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 March 31, 2012.
